The mission of Sycamore Land Trust is to preserve the disappearing landscape of southern Indiana. SLT conserves land to provide habitat for wildlife, protect scenic beauty, and provide places for outdoor enjoyment and education. Working together with private landowners to protect their land and family heritage, SLT helps maintain the unique character of our home. SLT has now conserved over 5,200 acres on
more than 61 parcels and helped plant over 54,700 trees.

National recognition for SLT
In 2007, the National Arbor Day Foundation selected SLT for one of its prestigious annual Project Awards, recognizing our work to plant over 50,000 trees over the past nine years. Click here for an overview.

In December 2007,
National Public Radio aired a nationally syndicated story about SLT demonstrating an imaginative, courageous attitude toward conservation. A 15-minute version ran on our local public radio station, WFIU, and a 3.5-minute version ran on Morning Edition from coast to coast.  Click here to read and/or listen to the national NPR story.

Support SLT
SLT depends on tax-deductible contributions from people like you to do this important work. Supporting Sycamore Land Trust is easy! You can contribute online!
Think for a moment about your favorite parts of our area; the brilliance of hardwood forests in autumn, the dogwood and redbuds blooming in spring, the place where you take your children to hike or watch the birds. Now ask yourself--will that place still be there in twenty years?  In 100 years? Your contribution will help us preserve and restore the beautiful natural heritage of southern Indiana.
